This is a great value for what you're getting. The knives are sharp and of good quality. My one gripe is that compared to my Wusthof knife I already own, they are much lighter. I am only an at-home cook, so this suits me fine. For the price you cannot beat it!

 "Too Light!!!" 2008-07-07
By V. Coca (FPO, AP United States)
I have compared Wusthof and Henkels for awhile now and would have been happy with either "true" knife sets by these companies. This set on the Emeril line is not true Wusthof quality. The blades are thinner than my cheap Target set that I was replacing and the handles are plastic with the blade seemingly glued into place. I also bought the steak knife set and those did not even fit into the block they were meant to be in. I was not able to hold and feel these before I bought them, but the price was right ..... I thought! They'll keep me semi happy for the next few years but next time I'll make sure I get the real deal Wusthof.

 "Too light for me" 2008-04-02
By Monica Way (Oakland, CA USA)
These knives were too light for me. The blades are super thin, and very sharp indeed, but the handle doesn't feel sturdy in my hand. I think I prefer something with more weight and substance. The handles are a lightweight, honed plastic. No chiseled edge in the cut of the handle. Something about that design and material choice for the handles contributes to my feeling that these knives are a little cheap. A friend of mine has the Wüsthof Gourmet set and I've always enjoyed using her knives. I think I'll get those after I return these.

 "Great Value Priced Set" 2007-12-23
By David Ross (Rochester, NY USA)
I am very happy with this set in use, looks and durability. These knives are light weight yet sturdy and well designed. More expensive forged knives would have somewhat stiffer blades. However, these knives work wonderfully for paring, peeling and cutting fruits and vegetables and other foods. I don't expect a set of knives in this price range to last a lifetime (despite the warranty) but they are clearly holding up fine for me over six months use. The small knife with the reverse or hooked point is sometimes called a bird's beak peeler. It is useful for removing thin skins from fruits. Notice that the other two knives have two different points as well.

At the current price of $19.99 for a set of 3 they are a very good value and the set is also available as a 4-for-3 promotion offer. These knives are also sold individually.

"Even heat. Great look. Minimal maintenance" 2009-08-23
By FreeAtLast (Newington, CT USA)
I was reluctant to get a stainless set because of the reviews of those who found it easy to stain their pans -- a fear reinforced by the pamphlet that came with the set warning of possible pitting from salt and discoloration from too high heat! And, sure enough, on about the third or fourth use, my wife cooked up some salty canned soup and one of the source pans looked like an oil slick with blue and pink hues that would not wash off. So, I hit the Internet and learned about Bartender's Helper (which I ordered) and vinegar. While I was waiting for the Bartender's Helper, I put some white vinegar in the sauce pan with some water. Almost instantly, the pan -- which seemed cosmetically damaged beyond repair -- was looking as good as new. I did heat the water, but I believe the stains were gone as soon as I added the vinegar to the pans. The pamphlet writer evidently didn't know the vinegar trick!!

Cook with less heat and wait until the water is hot before adding salt -- the combination will ensure that the pans continue to look new after repeated use. Lower heat and the use of the covers (there's a reason for having them -- and you won't even get a false scare.

Bartender's Helper -- a less abrasive version of a cleansing powder -- works well to remove minor stains from both the inside and the outside of the pans with no scrubbing required beyond that you can do with a sponge.

But, it's not about the pan's looks -- even though it was great to find that the looks can readily be maintained. It's about the even heating. There are no hot spots. The reason you're paying extra for these pans is that their heat distribution is simply excellent, something you may never have experienced with cheaper sets. If you haven't experienced cooking with even heat, you don't miss it. But, once you do, you'll never want to go back.

I'm happy with the set and delighted that the complaints encountered about stainless steel picking up stains are misguided. Yes, with too high heat, with salt being added to cold water, or with some canned soups, the pans may appear damaged and will not respond to just anything. But, the vinegar trick is totally effective with discolored pans and the Bartender's Helper dispatches little black marks that may show up with ease.

Finally, if food gets burnt on to the pan, throw some water into the pan and bring it to a boil. The food can be easily scraped loose with a plastic spatula and Bartender's Helper will dispatch dispatch any relatively stubborn spots.

With reasonable care, the good looks of the pans can be retained indefinitely. And, should there be some staining that I haven't encountered, the pans will continue to do their jobs well anyway. It's stainless steel. Nothing will leach from the pans into your system. Teflon isn't necessary. Warm the pans before adding food, and the food doesn't stick with a little cooking spray or oil to help things along.

 "Great value. Meets expectations." 2009-03-17
By John H (Michigan)
I'm just a guy who likes to cook. The Berndes teflon sauce pans that I've been using for years were starting to deteriorate, and I knew I wanted to replace them with a set of stainless steel clad cookware. As much as my ego wanted All Clad or Demeyere, I just couldn't justify the cost. After a lot of research and store trips, I decided on the Calphalon Tri-Ply set. Deciding to make one last attempt to kill any buyer's remorse, I made one more trip to Bed Bath and Beyond just to be sure. That's when I spotted the Emerilware Pro-Clad set (this is the fully-clad line, not the original line with the heavy disk welded to the bottom). I should say I'm not really a fan of Emeril -- he's just another TV personality to me. I rarely watch his shows, and I've never eaten in his restaurants. If anything, I'm the kind of person who would avoid celebrity endorsed products.

Enough with the caveats. I wasn't crazy about the handles on the Calphalon set. Too skinny and short for my hands. When I grabbed the Emerilware sauce pan, it was instantly very comfortable in my hand. The handle is much beefier than pretty much any other SS cookware I picked up. Performance-wise, the handles stay cool on the stovetop (I have a glasstop). Even the loop handles on the stockpot were cool enough to pick up and drain a pot of spaghetti. Love the handles. The pieces have a slight heft to them without being unwieldy. I have a couple of old monster fry pans, and these are very easy to manage in comparison. Good weight and balance. Also, liquids pour nicely off the rolled lip.

I've had no problem adjusting to SS after using teflon for a lot of years. I use olive oil or canola oil, and have had no problem with food sticking or burning. I love the saute pan for searing steaks, chicken, and pork chops, then throwing it into the hot oven to finish. Back on the stovetop (using a pot holder, duh), a little bit of chicken broth or wine deglazes the pan and makes a quick an easy sauce. I find that I use all of the pieces in the set on a regular basis. The steamer is useful as we prefer to steam our veggies. If you follow the instructions and keep an eye on the heat, these things clean up with absolutely no problem. Any residual discoloration or stubborn bits come right off with Barkeepers Friend.

I deducted one star for the following small gripes: I would have preferred SS lids instead of glass, even though I haven't run into any drawbacks with the glass. Next, the Pro-Clad line is somewhat limited compared to other brands. I picked up the largest (3 qt) saucepan to round out the set -- I would have preferred a 4 qt with an extra loop handle, but it' not offered. I'm hoping the manufacturer adds other choices to the line over time. It would be nice to have a matching saucier or wok, for instance. Lastly, I've noticed that the frying pan is warped very slightly, maybe 1/16", so that it rocks a little bit on the glasstop. I didn't notice if it came out of the box this way, or warped slightly from the heat of the stove. It doesn't seem to affect the performance anyway. All of the other pieces are perfectly flat on the bottom. I inspected all of the pieces for burrs, and found them all to be perfectly smooth.

In summary, my wife and I are really pleased with our purchase of the Emerilware Pro-Clad set. It works great and looks great. We expect them to give us many years of great food.

"Only lasted for 2 of the 10 year 'warrantee'" 2009-06-15
By Fiona Jackson (West Hollywood, CA United States)
I too have experienced problems with the coating wearing off and food sticking. No problems for 2 year, loved the pans! I never used anything sharp or metal, never put them in a dishwasher, never stacked anything in them (they were hung), never heated the pans empty or on full heat, there are no scratches at all, just an over all wearing.

I thought these pans would at least last the length of their warrantee but no where near. Unfortunately I am now in New Zealand and it wouldn't be worth shipping them back to the USA even if I thought for a minute they wouldn't just claim it was my fault. I also have stainless steel All Clad pans purchased at the same time, 6 years ago, and they are still very much like new.

I wouldn't recommend these pans at all. Go for All Clad or another brand entirely.

"Nonstick Coating Wears Off, Company Blames Customer, Voids Warranty" 2009-04-18
By David M. Lyle
I was really happy with this cooking set for a good number of years. So happy, in fact, that the 12" Fry Pan became my favorite cooking pan. As a result the non-stick wore off under the normal course of its lifetime.

I was able to get an RMA for the pan, but it was returned to me with a letter stating that the browning on the pan indicates that it was subjected to overheat and as a result, the pan will not be replaced.

Problem is, there is no browning on the pan, and I've never overheated that pan. It runs at one temp and one temp only on my range and never empty.

Do NOT buy this set if you expect, as I did, that the company will stand behind their product. In fact, I'd stay away from Emerilware, T-Fal, All-Clad and Cephalon as the letter sent to me indicates that they are all the same, extremely non-customer focused, company.

"non-stick coating has worn off" 2009-01-20
By JB (Washington, DC United States)
I've had a set of Emeril cookware for 8 years, and have been happy with it overall until recently, when the two pans that I use the most have begun to lose their non-stick coating. I have never put the pans in the dishwasher, only use plastic utensils, only clean them with a sponge, and never preheat the pans on their own. I've continued to use the pans despite the deterioration of the coating, and one of the pans has now lost almost all of the coating.

So here I am 8 years later without a receipt, and I'm not sure if I can return the pans under warranty or not. At this point I'm not sure if I can even donate them to Goodwill. I'm also concerned that over the years, my family has been consuming this non-stick coating, and I'm not sure that I'd want to get a replacement from the manufacturer anyway. I am in the process of converting to cast iron or le Creuset cookware. I've had some le Creuset pots for over 10 years that I use quite frequently, and they are still good as new.

This is a nice set of cookware, but if you're looking for something that "lasts a lifetime" as I was, I don't think this is it.

We have been using Analon Professional for years supplemented with some specialty pans. I bought one of the Emeril non stick pans to replace our worn Analon and fell in love with it. It truly needs no oil or better to saute something or cook scrambled eggs. When I saw this set on sale, I bought it and packed up the analon. I love how simple it is to clean! As previously reviewed, the lids are not super tight fitting but I can live with it. :-)

Review Emerilware Stainless Steel 10 Piece Cookware Set

Buy Low Price From Here Now

Celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse kicks it up another notch with this stainless-steel cookware collection. This 10-piece set is a lustrous example of the stainless-steel collection, which is made by renowned cookware manufacturer All-Clad. Pots and pans are heavy-gauge, 18/10 stainless steel polished to a mirror finish outside and blessed with a satin finish inside to conceal utensil marks. To distribute heat uniformly and maintain it, there are thick aluminum disks on the bottoms covered in stainless steel so the cookware works on any stovetop, including induction. For elegance, the disks' edges are clad in copper. This set includes 8 and 10 inch fry pans, 1.5 quart sauce pan, 3 quart sauté, 3 quart casserole, 6 quart tall stock pot and 4 lids.

"I'm happy with the set" 2009-08-07
By BPRJam (Minnesota)
I've had the set at least 3 years, and am quite happy with it. Using a little Barkeepers Friend once a month or so, they pans still look like new even though I frequently put them in the dishwasher. They've seasoned up well so that I never miss having a non-stick pan. They heat evenly, and have a predictable warm up and cool down time so that cooking with them becomes second nature. Some cheaper pans that I tried were highly dependent on what was in the pan for warm-up and cool-down. My only complaint is how bottom-heavy they are, but this isn't a problem until I'm trying to pour from a pan. In short, my extended experience with this set has been positive.

 "Excellent set of cookware" 2009-07-30
By W. Borek (Medway MA)
Purchased this set (14PC) from a local retailer in April 2009 to replace a 25 year old set. Read tons of reviews and decided that this set had what I wanted for a good value. I have found this set to be well made (by All Clad), beautiful looking and to have superb performance. Have used all the pieces without a problem. Even heating (though it takes a bit to get going) but found that once heated, you can take the heat down a notch and cook easily. I use them on a glass cooktop. And my wife loves the clear glass lids.

Not sure why a few reviewers have complained about cleaning, I have had no problems at all. All pieces clean very easily, whether used for frying, sauteing or boil/simmer. I have also finished cooking things in the oven with absolutely no ill effects. A soft scrubber pad and soap cleans completely. If you want to renew the "original" shine, a little "bar keepers friend" once every few washes will polish them up nicely. I have found that drying them with a cloth vs air dry does improve the "look" a lot.

 "Great set" 2009-07-16
By Random (CA, USA)
I have the 14-piece set, and one large hard anodized saute pan, and since buying them, I have gotten rid of all my other pans because I just don't use them anymore.

These pans heat evenly and are easy to handle. So far everything I've tried to cook has turned out better than with the previous pans, including manicotti (which turned out perfectly - and a light spray of Pam and there was no problem with sticking). As for food sticking - well, the biggest problem I've had was with scrambled eggs when the heat is too high, and after a soak in hot water, the mess cleaned up just fine. I use these pans multiple times every day, and have had them for a few months, and have had NO problems cleaning them up (as some of the negative reviews mention).

These aren't the top-line All-Clad, but they're much better than anything I've ever used, and I am quite satisfied with them.

 "Beautiful Set" 2009-06-22
By M. Ferreira (New Jersey)
I purchased the Emeril Stainless 10-piece set and am very pleased with it. I had been trying to decide between that set and the Cuisinart Chef's Classic 10-piece stainless set. When I didn't get any cookware for my wedding, I decided to go to Macy's and check out both sets.

I found another young couple also comparing both cookware sets. I liked that the Emeril set has:

- See-through lids that fit snugly

- An attractive copper core

- Just the right mix of sizes for a family of two

The Cuisinart set has thinner lids that are not see-through and no copper core.

I did not like:

- The aluminum bottom layer, that can possibly melt if mishandled

- Slightly awkwardly-long handles

The Cuisinart set's aluminum layer is encapsulated in stainless. It also has slightly nicer handles.

Ultimately, I decided that the see-through lids and right size mix were more important to me than the aluminum bottom of the pot melting off. I read the enclosed leaflets and now follow the instructions carefully. Using low heat really does help the food cook more evenly, without burning. So far, I am loving my new Emeril Stainless cookware set! It really is beautiful!

P.S., The other couple shopping at Macy's that day purchased the same set too!
